Not cheap though. Matt Golf , Apr 5, I think you've answered your own question there - it's way too expensive and the Bremen unless someone bought one at the time was not a standard unit for the Mk2 GTI. You should still be able to get your hands on other period Blaupunkt models that would definitely have been in a Mk2 at the time.
Joined: Jan 13, Likes Received: Blaupunkt was sold in and has since been sold to a string of different companies. It's pretty much only the name that's left now, not the old school quality.
Ebay can offer similar city-named head units such as the San Francisco, but they mostly come from the far east, not Germany or Portugal like the old ones did. It's a pity the brand has fallen on hard times, as far as I'm concerned, Blaupunkt was the best of all of the brands. I don't think you'd go far wrong with something like this..
Joined: May 24, Likes Received: 1, I've had some modern blaupunkt things, home stereo- brilliant, smart tv- awful and blew up in two months while watching monty python, plus was a nightmare with the apps and channels it used. Stereo had in a car about 8 years ago was very good.
