Local Black funeral owners and directors have slammed the efforts of a new non-White funeral home to cut into their business. They have also charged that a few local Black mortuaries are allowing themselves to be used as fronts to lure people away from long-standing Black firms.
At the center of the dispute is National Funerals, a rising chain of low-priced funeral homes that has catered mostly the Latino com- munity.
