We offer a safe and welcoming space for survivors to connect to all the resources and partner agencies they might need. These can allow a victim to flee a dangerous situation or perhaps gain more information on resources and community supports available to them. We can answer questions, provide referrals, and assist in a variety of ways that help a victim of abuse move to safety and become a thriving survivor. All our services are free and confidential.
Our process is survivor-driven, meaning we provide resources and information and a client decides what they want to use and how they want to use it. Clients do not need to participate in prosecution to access resources. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary. My adult daughter was brought to them by the fantastic Domestic Violence Officer Gauthier. They have figuratively and physically held her hand through each step of the process.
From filing an OP, answering numerous questions, to facing criminal court, Jessie and the ladies have been there supporting her as she faced her highly violent abuser once again. Melissa and the ladies have also provided me support and educational material and put me in touch with another victim's mother for encouragement.
This helped me wrap my head around the situation we were in and understand how to support my daughter through this in a healthy way. They've been an empathetic bright light as they've seen our tears and guided us through this dark valley.
They have changed my daughter's life and because of their gentle and caring help, my daughter and grandchild are alive and safe. They are changing family trees every day and saving lives! They will always have a special place in my heart! I came to ACFJC with no plan and only a complaint that my abusive husband or more than 40 years had threatened to kill me, which finally got my attention.
