Domus Australia was established by the Catholic Church in Australia so that pilgrims traveling to Rome would have a place to stay during their visit to Rome. The intention was to spread the Australian character throughout the complex: Australian materials and furnishings were used for this purpose, and works by famous Australian artists are present throughout the Domus.
Under the careful planning of architects and expert consultants, the renovations were carried out by the Castelli company, a family strongly involved in the projects of the Church since the time of Pope Pius XI who attended school with the first Castelli builder and who built many important church buildings.
Domus Australia is able to satisfy any request and satisfy any palate. The property is also able to organize various types of events including business lunches with table service or buffet , wedding banquets and special events, coffee breaks etc.
The Cardinal Moran Restaurant overlooks a beautiful outdoor courtyard surrounded by a typical Italian cloister. Dinners and drinks can be served inside the dining room or outdoors in the wonderful courtyard. The seasonal menus proposed by the Chef will give the opportunity to taste the typical Italian cuisine.
