She specializes in prenatal, postnatal and labor support massage as well as therapeutic deep tissue myofascial and trigger point therapy for chronic pain, tension, and injuries for people of all genders. She takes a whole-person approach with her clients and regularly integrates herbal medicine, essential oils, hydrotherapy and cupping therapy fire cupping into her work.
Lena's integrative approach to inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions is illustrated in her case study that was published in the Spring edition of the Journal of the American Herbalists Guild titled "The Link between Gut and Autoimmunity: Treatment of Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Colitis with "Weeding and Feeding" Approach. Lena studied massage therapy at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY where she was also trained in hydrotherapy and essential oils.
She began studying herbal medicine 18 years ago, first through two apprenticeships at Alba Nueva herb farm in Costa Rica with Dr. Lena was certified as a birth doula by home birth midwife and educator Susanrachel Condon of Niara Healing Arts and has been attending births at homes, hospitals, and birthing centers for a decade.
She also completed an advanced doula training with midwife and author, Ina May Gaskin and renowned doula instructor and director of the film Orgasmic Birth , Debra Pascali-Bonaro. She was trained as a lactation counselor through the Healthy Children's Center for Breastfeeding and has been certified through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice since While at Rutgers she also studied French language and literature in Paris, France and regional politics in Zagreb, Croatia.
Before she opened Red Moon Wellness, Lena worked as a coordinator of a community education program on gender-based violence as well as on a domestic violence response team in New Brunswick, NJ.
