Omega Nu of Santa Cruz initiated four new members to our chapter on January 28th, Welcome to Susan Ledingham, Jennifer Lipman, Anna Miller, and Lindsey Ridgeway, who will help us to continue serving our community as we have since Omega Nu Santa Cruz is a volunteer organization which donates all proceeds from our fundraisers back to the community through scholarships, funds for classroom materials for public schools, and charitable giving to local nonprofits and families in need.
Stephanie Lusk-Muccia, Charity ChairPerson, emphasizes the importance of the Ducky Derby in enabling the organization to give much needed support to local schools, organizations, children, and families. Requests for assistance are encouraged from teachers, coaches, organizations, children, families, and those in need. Omega Nu members diligently review these requests semi-annually, in March and October. If you're interested in contributing to Santa Cruz community programs, college scholarships, and providing classroom materials for local schools, we invite you to attend our annual Ducky Derby on April 26th, Omega Nu announced its new board members for - at the last meeting of the year in June at Stockwell Cellars.
Over pizza, fresh fruit and home baked cookies, students introduced themselves and shared the school they will be attending plus their plans for their studies in the fall. Omega Nu scholarships benefit high school seniors who will attend public California universities, colleges, or vocational schools and are based on both financial need and scholastic achievement.
We are thrilled to be able to help so many Santa Cruz students achieve their goal of higher education! But that's not all β Omega Nu is committed to making a difference beyond the classroom. We're gearing up for our annual Ducky Derby fundraiser on April 27th at Harvey West Park, where we'll continue to fund college scholarships and support community organizations. Save the date, and let's make a positive impact together!
Omega Nu has 11 Northern California based chapters, each of which serves its own community through charity and service. Today, it is an entirely volunteer group of more than 40 women that hosts annual fund raisers to benefit the community, as well as helping others in need through community service.
