They should also avoid using swimming pools and hot tubs. The Producers Guild of America has further postponed the announcement of nominations for its prestigious awards ceremony due to the fires. Nominations had been expected to be unveiled on Sunday, having initially been pushed from Friday. The Hollywood calendar has been significantly affected by the disaster as a number of premieres and awards shows have been postponed.
Many who work in the film and television industry have been displaced. It is still not known what has caused the fires spreading across southern California. According to the National Fire Protection Association, lightning is the most common cause of fires in the US but investigators have ruled that out as an explanation. There were no reports of lightning in the Palisades area or the terrain around the Eaton Fire, which started in east Los Angeles County.
The next two most common causes are fires intentionally set and those sparked by utility lines, AP reported. So far there has been no official indication of arson in either blaze and utility lines have not been identified as a cause.
